Laser Optics v.l

Laser Optics v.l was originally developed by us in 1997 to support the amazing putter fitting system we created. It is simply a laser pointer mounted and calibrated to a triangular base. The LO v.l enhanced the methodology of fitting a putter for an individual's aim, a system created by putting expert Mike Shannon. 

Over the years we have found that far less than 20% of golfers tested (we are talking thousands of everyday recreational golfers) aim inside the cup from 10 feet. One degree of variance from 10 feet equals a 2.09" variance at the cup.  Over 80% of golfers will misaim 2 plus degrees right or left of the cup, according to their aim-bias. And over 40% of recreational golfers will aim 4+ degrees left or right of the center of the cup. That equals 6+" left or right of the edge of the cup. Non-conscious misalignment results in non-conscious stroke compensation for the aim error. The greater the aim error, the greater the compensation. 

We later began selling the device to instructors, college golf programs, and individuals seeking to have a great tool to monitor putter alignment. The product requires someone other than the golfer to operate it. A golfer will set up and aim with the ball in front of the putter face. The LO v.l operator will secure the putter head, move the golf ball, and square the triangular base against the putter face. With the back two legs secured on the putting surface, simply tilt the front of the laser up/down and the pointer will trace the aim line on the putting surface. Its a real eye opener! One good idea leads to another. In 2013, we were out working with a player on the practice green at Champions Golf Club. After working a bit with the LO v.l, he made the comment, "The laser is so cool. But, do you know what might be cooler? If the laser could project a line!" Maybe it wasn't our idea, but the more we thought about it, the more it made practical sense. We designed it and developed a product that allowed a golfer to self-practice set up, alignment, and start line accuracy.
